For our course New Media in school, our class was assigned to come up with a fun project using one or more of the technologies we learned throughout the year. As a team with my friend Marijn, we worked on our idea called Mood Host, which makes the whole process around Christmas presents a lot easier whilst creating a great atmosphere.
The application runs on your television set, is controlled by a Leap Motion with hand gestures and has a nice, relaxing video on loop in the background. Everyone gets their picture taken and is assigned a color that will be sent to the Philips Hue lighting bulbs in the room. Afterwards, an algorithm makes couples which are one by one revealed. The next time the process gets started, matches will be shown again and people receive their presents.
Using the menu, you can change the Philips Hue lighting by adjusting the sliders or pick a different video to run in the background. In our demo there were only two, but anything is possible.
